Overview

Join the Utah Valley Symphony for an evening celebrating the spirit of America through three masterworks that define our cultural identity. Featuring virtuoso violinist Joanna Kurkowicz, this concert brings together works that capture the heart and soul of American music.

Aaron Copland’s Lincoln Portrait paints an intimate portrait of American leadership and ideals, featuring the iconic melodies that have become synonymous with the American landscape and spirit. John Corigliano’s The Red Violin tells a sweeping story through orchestral color and brilliant violin writing—a work of passion and virtuosity that showcases Kurkowicz’s extraordinary artistry. And George Gershwin’s An American in Paris captures the energy, romance, and optimism that define the American character—a beloved masterpiece that brings audiences to their feet.

Under the direction of conductor Dr. Cheung Chau, the Utah Valley Symphony and internationally acclaimed violinist Joanna Kurkowicz invite you to experience the music that tells America’s story—works that combine technical brilliance with emotional depth, creating an unforgettable evening of American musical excellence.
